Compose technical reports that clearly communicate risk and security assessments, budget considerations, and decisions related to network topologies, routing protocols, and network technologies.
Where did you create this artifact?
The artifact below was created as part of a semester long project with a team of students. This was the culmination of multiple Case Studies, learning about network design and budgets.
What did you learn?
This course taught me deeper concepts of the term divide and conquer. This course did well to reinforce the concept of working in teams to complete a common goal in a professional level project for a client.
How did you learn this?
This was taught by working with a set group of individuals during the course to complete different case studies that increasingly got more complicated and required more finite details for the ‘client’.
What were some challenges that you overcame?
I think the hardest thing to overcome in this course was scheduling time for all people to meet on a regular basis. While most of us were flexible, there were some instances where work did not allow us to focus completely on tasks. While this made it difficult to work together live on Teams meetings at times, we still were able to communicate via email, or Teams chat to get things completed on time.
How will you apply this information in the future?
Understanding the requirements for implementing a network, and the software needed to maintain and administer devices on the network is an important skill not only for network and system administrators, but for the security personnel that protect these devices.
In this case study we were required to submit a proposal for the Louisiana Department of Education. This proposal was to upgrade the existing network across a school district along with creating a Mobile Device Management solution that teachers could use to assist students with learning.
