Where did you create this artifact?
This artifact was created during the course ICT 700 – Introduction to Information & Communication Technologies. This was the result of a semester long research project that was completed while learning more about the overall program.
What did you learn?
As this was an introductory course for the overall program, it was covered a broad range of topics focused on what Information and Communication Technology is. This course was an eye-opening course for me as I have worked in IT for a few years and never considered that the projects and implementations that I have been apart of would fall under the blanket of the Information and communications technology.
How did you learn this?
Everything learned in the course was through not only research on what ICT really is and how it can effectively work in a business environment, but there were many group discussions that allowed collaboration between students, allowing them to share opinions and information they were able to gather.
What were some challenges that you overcame?
Honestly for me, the biggest challenge to overcome during this course was just getting back into a groove of dividing my time between learning, work, and family. Trying not to do too much at one time and putting together a learning environment that would work for the next couple of years along with a learning plan.
How will you apply this information in the future?
Being able to understand how to communicate with others and working in a team environment is an important skill for anyone in business, but especially someone working in Information Technology. By reinforcing skills in communication this course has allowed me to rethink how I communicate with not only my peers, but also my ‘customers’.
